In 2005, I began a series of work entitled Winged Women.  Having been diagnosed with breast cancer the year before, the Winged Women began as a way to heal from the cancer experience and to adjust to the physical changes of my body after a mastectomy with reconstruction.  As I began this work in the springtime, I was also inspired to create bud vases to hold flowers from my garden.  The original vases began as simple cylinders and quickly evolved into curved hourglass sculptures resembling the human form.

Similar to all of us, the WInged Women reflect the diversity and beauty of our stretched, scarred and irregular bodies.

All of this work is in my private collection and not for sale as they are my army of girlfriends who are breast cancer survivors.
